I recently purchased a Dell Vostro 1400
from Dell's outlet. After shipping, tax, and all the other fees that go on, here's my final cost and specs (and additions that I put):
1.6ghz Intel Core 2 Duo chip.
120gb HD
14.1" WXGA+ display (goes up to 1440x900 resolution) with Truelife (Dell's glossy finish)
NVidia 8400GS video card built in.
2GB PC2-5300 ram (came with 1gb, I bought 2gb for $10 AR)
DVD-RW/CD-RW, etc.
Vista Basic (I upgraded it to Vista Ultimate later)
9-cell battery, when unplugged and on power saving settings I get 4.5 hours.
Black matte finish.
Bluetooth

I ended up paying about $675 after the RAM upgrade. All in all, I really like it. It's nice and light.

I consider myself somewhat of a computer nerd though, so I was REALLY particular about what I wanted.
