I honestly don’t think the trade was that bad. At the time Watson was viewed as a borderline top 5 QB
The Browns gave up three 1s, one 2nd, one 3rd, two 4ths, and a 6th round pick.
The Browns felt like they had a really good roster, outside of Baker Mayfield, who they thought was holding them back. So they made a big move to get a Top 5 QB.
How many ones would it take to get Joe Burrow right now? CJ Stroud? Idk, but it would take a lot more than what the Browns gave up.
The trade obviously didn’t work. But at the time, without the knowledge we have now, I don’t think it’s crazy to give up 3 first rounders for a Top 5 QB.
