the workplace, especially if they are very passionate or biased about it, can sometimes be toxic co-workers and have a negative impact on teamwork, team chemistry, and/or morale. And, their biases can sometimes lead them to be less-than-objective about business decisions. At least based on the experience I have had with these types of folks.

It doesn't mean I wouldn't hire them, necessarily, but it does mean that a bit of extra vetting might be in order, to make sure it isn't a huge mistake to add them to the team.
