I could understand tearing down your opponent's goalposts kind of as an act of defiance and ultimate disrespect (like Pippen standing over Ewing after dunking) ... but what is the point of tearing down your own goalposts? All I could come up with is the adrenaline (and alcohol) fueled ecstasy of the moment. But then ... why throw them in the river? What's the point of that?
Is this how it is usually done with goalposts? Is this some kind of tradition I don't know about?
