lifelong dreamers. The base of athletes among Church members is much richer than some think as the history of BYU success has repeatedly demonstrated in many sports.

Athletic program success has always been more about the quality of the Athletic Director and the quality Head Coaches than about the availability of talented potential recruits. Giants like LaVell Edwards and Stan Watts had high level success when the Church was much smaller and before the emergence of the remarkably athletic LDS Poly population. Many minor sports have been nationally competitive for generations whenever brilliantly led.

Kevin Young has simply brought this to a new level and to public attention with his own matchless competence and by embracing the BYU purpose and culture with his unqualified commitment and optimism about the unlimited possibilities.

We will all learn to love this inclusiveness as long as BYU continues to land the best LDS athletes in the world and as long as most of the diverse athletes are edified by their BYU experience.

It's a big positive all the way around, a win, win, win, win. Wins for the athletes, for BYU basketball, for BYU's larger purpose, and for greater society.
