Is it common in the NFL to have another kicker be the FG place holder..
I thought it was usually a backup QB, in case the snap gets botched and, then, they can run a pass play

These days I would guess that almost all holders are punters.

Fairly common to be a punter… that way the long snapper and kickers can work
