is a very well laid-out Roman city of between 10,000-20,000 inhabitants until Vesuvius blew up. Being buried under 20 ft. of volcanic ash for centuries is apparently a good way to preserve things. We spent 4 hours there and easily could have spent a few more.
If TNT thinks Utah Mormons have houses that are too big, he would have really been disappointed with the Faun House (owner unknown) which covers 10,000 square meters and takes a whole city block in Pompeii. The entrance is on one street and the exit from the home is on another street that runs behind the house the next block over.
If you go to Italy, allow a good amount of time for Pompeii.
