recall, BYU had the game won and somehow fumbled while trying to kneel the ball and run out the clock in the last seconds. Apparently, a CSU player swiped at the snap of the ball right at the moment BYU's center, probably Orrin Olsen at the time, snapped it to Sheide to kneel down and run out the clock. Nothing was called by the refs, and CSU got the resulting fumble with time left for one play. They, of course, threw a touchdown pass on the last play of the game and tied the score. Then there was the controversy of the missed extra point that resulted in a tie game as a final score. Pretty crazy.
