Once in college I broke (I think) my toe while walking in a dark basement at my parents' house between semesters. I went to the airport the next day and I was limping so badly, and in such obvious pain that a random airport employee offered to get a cart for me. He never came back and I just plodded along wincing with every step. So, I guess you can make it, but my foot really hurt that day. I can't imagine what a serious issue that doesn't just go away would be like.
