Google tells me the average cost to charge a Model 3 at home right now is $8.38. The average cost to charge at a supercharger is $17-35.
Assuming the vehicle's charge is completely depleted at the end of each day, it would cost me, at best $24/week or $1,248/year to charge the car. Of course, that's "only" $6,240 at the end of the 5-year period (so I'd still be getting a Tesla for under $17k), but it still stings.
And that's a "dealbreaker" on top of an already bad deal, where I have to assume responsibility for maintenance (including tires), insurance and depreciation for a car that I only get to use part-time.
And all of this is on top of the fact that, without another person in the vehicle, I don't trust the general public to behave. Think of all the YM/YW you've had abuse your vehicles in the past, and then imagine a gaggle of them in a robotaxi without adult supervision. Think of hormonal teens and young adults who think it would be funny, fun, and edgy to do lewd and indecent things in the backseat. Think of lousy bums who would almost certainly get robotaxi credits as part of some government entitlement program and then leave your vehicle's interior filthy.
Cool theory, but I have too many practical concerns, especially if the only economic upside I get is a discount on the vehicle's purchase price (and the offset to that upside is a requirement to fuel the vehicle day after day).
