At 13 everybody thinks their kid is D1
It really doesn't matter what sport. Three of my kids did club sports. My daughter did soccer from age 10 until college. Her team was very, very good, but in the end only a couple girls actually were D1 players. Parents are totally unrealistic. There is a lot of talk and dreaming in club level sports about college scholarships, but it is basically a sales pitch. Do it for fun not because it is going to guarantee you an athletic scholarship. If you really want to get college paid for, it would be better to invest the money you spend for club sports into tutors and aim for an academic scholarship. For baseball specifically, my BIL is an assistant coach at a D1 program. He says that grades are still extremely important when recruiting because often they do not give full scholarships to players and rely on academic scholarships to make up the difference.
