1. You get punished for scheduling up OOC
2. Road game victories aren't rewarded
3. Undefeated or one loss teams with weak SOS rewarded over better 2-3 loss teams with harder schedules
Even conference schedules with these massive conferences can have quite a bit of inequity in schedule difficulty. Assuming that since both teams are in the same conference and they one team has one loss and another has 2 losses, that the one loss team is better. Way too simplistic. Let's look at who they played and where they played and this quadrant system would really help solve for it.
I know that some wouldn't like it because it has the potential to reward more teams from the big conferences, but it does take a lot of the inequity out of it and makes it much more objective, but simple enough for analysts and committees to digest and make reasonable/more objective choices.
