November and Kalani started his tradition of giving the team the week off. Long season, they need a break, blah, blah, blah.
I was hoping that tradition would change last season with now being in the B12, the bye week was in early October, we had a new DC who seemed like he might not be in favor of giving the team a week off, but no. They got the week off, and we lost to TCU, a very mediocre team last year, by the score of 44-11.
2022 featured a bye before Utah Tech. Final score was certainly in BYU's favor, but it wasn't the prettiest of wins.
2021 featured a bye before Georgia Southern, a very pedestrian win over a team that really didn't even have a QB.
2020 was special.
2019 had an early October bye before USF, a loss to a team with a QB who had an injured throwing hand. There was a 2nd bye before USU, a win.
2018 had a bye before a pretty bad UNI team. BYU lost 7-6.
2017 had a rare September bye before a loss to USU, but we were losing to everybody that season.
2016 had a late October bye before a 20-3 win over Cincy, who went 4-8 that year.
So, not always a loss, but always an under performance after a BYE.
