Against K-State we got two very lucky bounces, but not outcome changing.
The fumble scoop and score as well as the Kingston punt return were both very fortunate bounces that lead to 14 points on those two plays. But even if you assumed both times that our players just fell on the ball and our offense sputtered to a 3 and out with a punt taking those 14 points off the board completely and leaving the game about the same otherwise, we still won by 29 points, so that would only reduce the margin of victory to 15. Also, I thought the scoop and score would have been close to FG range, but either way neither of those plays would necessarily have changed the outcome of the game. The interceptions were not luck so no need to take those away.

I think as BYU fans we are so used to our teams winning by earning points through our offense with basically no help from the D or special teams that it almost feels we don't deserve points when those groups contribute. If you've watched much SEC football, their defenses regularly score points and provide turnovers to give their offenses short fields. This is why a lot of coaches say defense wins championships.

BYU Opponents have scored 13, 15, 14, 9 and 28 points, respectively. That is not luck. It's just really good defense. We're just not used to seeing it sustained over the season as BYU fans.
