I can't remember if code usually requires a long sweep 90 or not, but even if not, I would try to find a way to fit one
in there if at all possible.
True, there shouldn't be any solids going down the shower drain (besides strands of hair). That means you could probably get away with it. But I hate to do a project like that that depends on no one using it in a way I didn't anticipate.
I mean, what if someone installs a garbage disposal on that drain, and prepares dinner in the shower while they bathe?
