The Y's Insider Intervention Needed
One last thing I'll say about the "BYU go too conservative" concept.
1. Kalani was right. In no way did they get too conservative. They played aggressive, and we were THIS close to putting the game away early. Baylor managed to stay in it due to:
- Several 4th down conversions.
- A bogus missed P.I. on our double pass.
- A missed BYU field goal.
- Two BYU interceptions.

ALL of that had to go Baylor's way to make the outcome even questionable.

2. I'm concerned that Kalani is giving the media (and public perception) that much thought and energy. He can't give a crap about what outsiders think. The fact that he felt the need to address it makes me think it has affected his psyche. He's got to be level-headed and trust the experts he has on staff. If he gets to a game-time decision and starts wondering about public opinion, he's done.

3. If anything, I think Kalani is too aggressive (not necessarily last game - but in general). Maybe I'm still too old-school Lavell, but more often than not, the conservative model worked better. Ask Whitt.
