For better or worse, our society functions on gambling. We like to wink and nod at some of it (stocks, private equity) and some of us demonize it when it comes to sports and horses—and this approval or disapprobation largely correlates which part of the socioeconomic spectrum participates—but it remains the reality.

So long as it is the reality, I'm in favor of regulations that level the playing field.
