I've heard that line for 30 years now. Still waiting. And Premiere League?
I couldn't find the ratings #, but it looks liek eth Premiere League final drew 2.9MM? the Champions league final in June drew 3.62MM including 1.3MM watching the spanish language telecast.
The DBacks-Rangers averaged 9MM last year. Phillies-Astros in 2022 was 12MM.
I mean it's definitely closer than I think it should be, but with 3X to 4X more folks watching baseball it's awfully tough to feel threatened.
