Shorten the game by keeping the clock running. It’s probably the move when you are up 3 scores to be honest. HOWEVER going conservative requires running execution. Thats tough to do with a beat up line and a 6th string RB toting the rock.
It ended up working so I am happy with the result. It’s hard to get conference wins in this league let alone on the road. There are teams like KSU and Utah who aren’t built to win when down late in the game and there are teams like OSU and Colorado who don’t have the line and RBs to salt away a game late.
I think our team has a solid mix but not when we are healthy and not have a 6th string RB and depleted line. We needed to mix up some conservative easily completed balls like some slants, bubble screens, ect.
In the end this team has far exceeded my expectations and they are a fun group to watch and cheer for. Will they go undefeated? Nope. Will they beat Utah? Maybe but either way let’s be a little objective and celebrate the good without thinking the sky is falling whenever a negative play or two happens.
