I used to feel that way...but not anymore in a P4 conference with an auto-bid
If/when BYU loses a game, the season isn't over. BYU could lose a game (or even 2) this year and still win a national championship. The goal right now is to get to the conference championship game because that can lead to a Playoff berth, but lets say BYU loses 3 games and just misses the CC game. We'd still go bowling at a really good bowl and this would be considered a successful season for most of us.

Obviously if we could have anything we wanted during the season we would choose to go undefeated, then win the CC game, get a bye for the playoffs and go on to win it all, but it's not like it was in the MWC/Indy days where the first loss of the year puts us out of the hunt for the playoff and then loss No.2 eliminates us from any respectable bowl game. So I can tolerate a loss much better now than in the past.
