It was a 4-score game, 3 TDs and a FG. You have to get at least that AND keep BYU from scoring again to win the game.
Doesn't matter if you get the FG first or last, you still have to get it at some point.
If you go into that 4 down play thinking "well, we need a TD because BYU is gonna keep scoring" then you've already lost.
The mindset there is "get 3 TDs, and FG, keep BYU from scoring and get out of here with a win."
It was the right call. A missed TD try there and the game is essentially 99% over no matter what. The FG kept them with a fighting chance.
