Sure you can. I played LB for 7 years. You can bring your ILBs into the A gaps
or over the OGs and bring your OLBs in tighter so they can more easily cover the C gaps (assuming the offense is using a TE in a short yardage obvious run play). And you can have them keying run first on short yardage. Basically have them selling out on the run in short yardage situations. There were lots of times where I had coaches tell me to assume it's a run play and to play my position like it's a run play until I see clearly that the offense is going to try to pass the ball. Most commonly on 3rd and 1 or 2 or 4th and 1.
