Several of you have posted how much last night reminded you of this game. It’s the exact feeling I had. So many big plays in a short time period leading to a lopsided score, then being able to bask in it for half the game. You young guys should go watch the 2nd quarter of that game (link below). It was such a similar vibe.

BYU scored on their first drive of the game, then the teams went punt, punt, punt before BYU went on a long drive to score again a couple plays into the 2nd quarter. That made it 14-0, and it was at that point the madness ensued…

Them… 3 plays and a fumble
Us… 1 play, 37 yard TD to Austin Collie. 21-0
Them… 2 plays and a fumble
Us… 5 plays and a TD. 28-0
Them… fumbled on the kickoff return
Us… 3 plays and a TD. 35-0

Those 4 2nd quarter scores happened in just under 5 minutes, but it wasn’t over. It was at this point that UCLA went on their only drive of the game. 9 plays and 40 yards. They lined up for a 32 yard FG attempt, which BYU blocked. The subsequent drive was 13 plays over 6 minutes and byu scored with seconds left in the half to lead 42-0.
