As noted above, the average starting field position was our 44 yard line

Yes, we didn't march the length of the field for a TD - but we only had like three chances to do that when the game was still in doubt. On one of those we got the RZ and got a FG. On the other we got into their territory and punted.

And then when TO's gave us a chance, our guys punched it in.
