This week. This game is pretty big for both teams.

To me, the most important part of this game for BYU is the run game. Offensive and Defensive.

Offensive run: I watched K-State v Arizona last week and their defensive line is REALLY good at penetrating and getting to the ball behind the line of scrimmage. Without the run game, our passing game will struggle. PLUS, K-State’s run game is extremely solid, and not just Johnson. They have a couple of talented backs. Because of this, you can’t key in on one player and so they have the ability to grind it out in the ground. If our offense can’t extend possessions through the run, K-State has the kind of team that wear out a defense by maintaining possession. They play well from ahead and can milk the clock.

That said, apparently they struggled in pass defense even against Tulane, so who knows. Maybe I’m overvaluing the run. If OUR run game isn’t the key to this game, stopping THEIR run game will be. BYU can’t afford to let K-State take an early lead and slowly drain BYU’s life out. I think we have the personnel to do this, but we won’t know until tomorrow. I think we’ve got a decent chance. I believe!
