I watch these events and the media talk about how the captains have dedicated the past 2 years of their lives to this like it’s some great sacrifice.
Other than some media appearances/interviews, making the captains picks and putting together pairings and directing the support and logistic staffs is there really all that much to it?
It’s gotta be hard work picking out outfits or getting the group together at a high-end restaurant for a pre-match bonding session or making the tough call on whether to have a ping-pong table in the team room, etc..
LPGA, PGA, RPGA run everything and they have access to stat gurus and every other resource they need in addition to 4 vice-captains.
Just have to roll my eyes a bit at how much of a sacrifice these captains make. Ok, rant over;)
