The crazy thing is from the podcasts I've listened to or things I've read, NBC
didn't even try very hard at all to keep him. I do think there were still some good episodes after--but definitely an overall drop after he left. I'm not sure if Steve Carrell by himself could have kept the quality up either for 2+ more years.
