They could do what my son's high school team does and kick it out of bounds
They try to get the ball to the sideline at about the 25-30 yard line to make coverage easier or to jump on a loose ball.
2 out of 3 times, the ball sails out of bounds. I'm not exaggerating.
It's been like that for at least the last three years.
