Now you're arguing whether or not he was qualified. Not sure I'm following.
He didn't get those jobs because he had been the AD at BYU. He was otherwise qualified even without that title. If anything, he got those jobs in spite of being AD because he really didn't do well as athletic director.
His career after BYU clearly shows he has talent.
