I care. Deeply. But space is limited on CB.
The correct way to refer to Kansas State University is "K-State", and "KSU" should only be used when space is limited. The university's official style guide recommends the following:
Kansas State University: Use the full name on first reference
K-State: Use K-State on second reference
Kansas State University: Use the full name on first reference
K-State: Use K-State on second reference
