The evolution of tatts in America has been interesting. As a kid in the 70’s
People would get tatts but it was usually associated with the military, biker gangs, prison, the Grateful Dead, etc. Anyway it was usually a smaller indication of an allegiance and as a sheltered kid in Utah I mostly saw this at Disneyland or at the beach.

Then somehow it became out of fashion maybe because of aids and needle concerns and really you didn’t see it much, other than a few outliers.

Now people for example in athletics are either all in with nearly full tatts all over or not in at all.

Perhaps you psychology majors can explain all this to me
