At my old job, it was a no brainer to go with the traditional plan when we had a baby (they hadn’t adjusted premiums up very much). But I crunched the numbers for my brother the next year at a different company, and the premium ate any cost savings from the traditional - HSA and HDHP was the obvious choice.
I suspect most of the time the answer is HSA but without digging in to your specific policy options there’s no way to say.
