First. He is definitely imroved over last year. I don't think there is much denying this. I know many on here think he has not, but he does look better to me. He is still inconsistent and is still mistake prone but I see improvement.

I thnk one of his big issues are his mechanics. When he remembers to set his feet he is pretty good and at times makes some great throows. But his inconstent mechanics are what hurts him here and balls not go where he wants when he rushes or throws without setting his feet. He also throws to hard at times and needs to develop some touch. There are flashes of touch on throws but often he throws bullets. I think this is the reason for some guys dropping passes.

Jake is an effecgive runner. It stinks that he had that 40 yard run called back due to some terrible hold calls, or he would have had 100 yards rushing. 100 yards rushing and almost 300 yards passing is not just good. Its great. What I liked about yesterday when he ran was that he was clearly trying to take care of the ball and wasn't holding it like a loaf of bread. Hopefully he keeps thatup and fixes his fumbling problem.

But here is the thing. Jake is most effective as that dual threat QB. He needs to be able to run. And because of that chances are he is going to get dinged up and we are gong to need Gerry Bohanan. So, while the knee jerk reaction in me at times wishes Gerry would get a shot to start or replace Jake when he does dumb things, Bohannan is almost certainly going to be needed thsi year.
