Cougarbib Intervention Needed
BYU gave up more points to Wyoming than ASU or Wyoming’s FCS Opponent allowed.
Yet, all blame is being cast upon Retzlaff who led BYU in rushing, threw for 293 yards and would have easily gone over 300 if left in, and who’s only turnover was a pick that pinned Wyoming at their 2 yard line. No. Retzlaff was not perfect. Completion % was 67% or so, however. He ran for 10 yards per carry. Our highly touted defense was going against a terrible Wyoming offense - worse than their defense - and gave up 14 points on long sustained drives. QB run gave us problems again. Terrible? No, of course not. But they should not have let Wyoming cross midfield. ST. Good and bad. Bad return. Then housed one to more than make up for it. Hit field goals, but shanked another punt. Penalties - especially on defense - were the biggest issue.
