I’m friends with a guy in my local old car club who’s been collecting Packards for decades, but now he’s 92 and is selling off some of his old cars as he can no longer maintain them. His collection includes a Packard of the same year and model as mine (1928 8 cylinder). As you might imagine, parts for a 96 year-old, low production car are not exactly easy to come by. So I said to him long ago that if he ever is selling his own ‘28, let me know and I’d be happy to offer him whatever he thought was a fair price for any spares he had. So in about an hour I’m on my way to his garage to pick through spare parts he’s been collecting for decades, and this how I feel:
