Thoughts and predictions for tomorrows game...
I know that I tend to be pessimistic when it comes to BYU sports. It is the way that I was raised. I remember watching tons of games with my grandpa at his house and he was always convinced that BYU was going to lose.

On the positive side I trust Jay Hill and the defense to come ready to play against a historically bad Wyoming offense. It's hard to predict a shutout (one bad punt, long return, turnover etc can mess it up) but I certainly believe it is possible this week. It's hard to see Wyoming scoring more than 14-17 points even if they get a few turnovers and I believe that BYU will score at least 20. I think Wyoming will try to shut down the run and force Jake to pass the ball and I like the idea of BYU getting the ball to players like Roberts and Lassiter and Epps. And I believe BYU's defense will make some plays and wouldn't be surprised if they outscore Wyoming on their own.

There are a few things that make me nervous. BYU has struggled to put together a string of good games and this definitely has all the makings of a trap game with a potential top 15 match-up with Kansas State coming up next week. The Wyoming fanbase has had this game circled for a while although I'm sure a blowout loss to ASU and then losing to Idaho has taken away some of the excitement. It sounds like Wyoming has had a lot of struggles with penalties (which can be fixed) and a few BYU turnovers could turn the game around. I remember playing Wyoming in 2003 when BYU didn't allow an offensive touchdown but still lost 13-10 after a pick-six. I believe Wyoming will try and play very conservatively and hope that BYU will make a few mistakes and Wyoming can capitalize with few big plays. With LJ Martin out this week, Jake Retzlaff will have to lead the offense and I'm worried he could keep Wyoming in the game with a timely interception or fumble or two. I'm also worried about our kicking game which has seemed a little shacky (poor punting, two missed FG's so far).

That said, I am as confident in a BYU win tomorrow as I've been in quite some time (probably SUU last year). I've been very impressed with the BYU defense this year and Wyoming looks bad. I'm hoping the offense can get some confidence back and stay healthy to give the team a good shot at pulling off a big upset next week. I'm guessing BYU is going to win 34-3.
