They will need to be convinced that Kalani is responsible for the improvement
There are lots of discussions on the board about how great the defense is doing (Jay Hill) and how poorly the offense is doing (bad QB play, no development, no RB pickups in the off-season, etc).

A lot of fans believe that Kalani held on to Tuiaki until it became incredibly apparent that it was an absolute failure and he needed to go (after Kalani may have refused to accept his resignation). Some people have given Kalani credit for bringing in Jay Hill but I believe that decision was forced upon him (at least in as far as moving on from Tuiaki) and Jay Hill was chosen in part to help mentor Kalani as a head coach and to allow Jay to become familiar with the BYU program in case it became necessary to move on from Kalani.

Right now it seems that the QB position and offense in general are heading towards Tuaiki type levels. There seems to be no QB development and after one of the worst offensive seasons in BYU history things don't seem to be getting better. Yes, ARod and the offense did great in 2020 and 2021 and okay in 2022 with NFL QB's, WR's and RB's but the NFL QB's are gone and there doesn't seem to be any hope of new ones coming soon. When was the last time BYU signed a freshman QB who threw 5+ TD passes at any university in his career (I'm guessing 2017 or 18)? That is a lot of whiffs at the QB position from your QB coach especially when there was tons of talk of your two NFL QB's being coached up by their private coach in Arizona. And the decision to trust an oft-injured LJ Martin as your RB seems incredibly naive especially now that he is hurt again as well as the backup who missed all of last year due to injuries. If you want to say that ARod and the offense did okay a few years ago then you also have to say that Tuiaki did okay for a few years as well until the bottom absolutely fell apart and they became one of the worst defenses in the country while Kalani stood by hoping to watch just a little more film and talking about loving one another. It would seem that multiple coaches are asleep at the wheel offensively and it wasn't just an OL problem.

From what I've seen, any success this season belongs to Jay Hill and the boosters that brought him to BYU. And I want Jay Hill leading the program going forward.
