Any time you need to unfreeze your credit its just a few clicks on each site to set a 'temporary unlock'.

Paying for a company like LifeLock doesn't protect your credit. They will monitor your credit and tell you if your identity appears on sketchy lists. (But again, you can do all the stuff for free.)
