into it this last go around because it became really apparent on day 1 that I was being intentionally screwed over. I figure at this point most of us will just choose to do what we want to do. Guess that shouldn't apply to relationships (haha) but everything else is fair game.
Good question on kids...
My general rules:
- NEVER quit mid season. Almost under any circumstance.
- don't make the decision to quit a sport after a frustrating season. Give it some time before deciding.
- if you quit something, you better have something else lined up. I'm at the point that I really don't care what my kids want to do as long as they are doing something that they're engaged in. I used to be a little more crazy Earl Woods.
- it sure seems that the majority of kids between age 14-16 want to quit their sport. So I try and prep them going into that age group the best I can.. don't push them too much, dont' let the sport overcome social stuff and hanging out w/ friends, etc. Realize that for the majority of kids the social stuff will be a big deal for them.
- In general I've learned that resilience, persistence, and just sticking w/ a sport results in a higher likelihood of going farther than intensity. So play the long game.
