When President Reese announced BYU would be rated a Carnegie 1 research institution, there was some question about how much research BYU does. It's actually a lot! I stumbled on this data just now that shows BYU is in the top 0.1% of institutions in publishing research articles in various databases. The trend the last 4 years has definitely been higher, which is weird because as a faculty member I haven't personally noticed any difference recently from when I began a couple decades ago.
