Having the police department roughing up the hometown team's star player on his way to the stadium isn't a good look. And Hill will have the resources to make sure this whole thing goes away, maybe with an apology from the department. Just look what happened with Scottie Scheffler.
It seemed more to me they were trying to show him who's boss. Also, the cop wearing the body camera recognized him, but it's not clear the cop who really was escalating things knew who he was dealing with.
