The Gabapentin was very helpful in the interim as his iron slowly rose. It was probably the main thing that helped with his RLS. I went from having to untangle him from his bedding in the morning to walking in and seeing him sleeping with bedding showing little movement and laying on him like it should.
One last thought, in case it wasn't tried already, please have your son see a pediatric sleep specialist. They can help diagnose these issues by knowing what blood tests to order and prescribe the right medication for your son. RLS may be a symptom of other issues, and if that is the case a sleep specialist may be able to help diagnose it correctly and get you the correct treatment.
