Running Linux on your laptop was your first mistake
I haven’t tried that in years, and it always was a pain to hack it to make everything work correctly.
Today I use Mac or Windows with WSL2 and leave Linux for the servers. I don’t have enough time anymore to spend endlessly tweaking my computer just so I can do real work. Good luck!
