…thru on #2. I don’t think coaches want to admit they were wrong and that they wasted the entire off-season and fall camp in making that mistake. People have a weird habit when faced with owning a mistake of their own doing of not wanting to accept being wrong and instead doubling down on the mistake hoping it course-corrects and proves them right.
We saw it happen back in 2012 in the Boise St game with Riley Nelson and his 5 TO’s. Defense played an inspired game and Riley did everything he could to give the game away and coaches refused to pull him when it was so obvious he shouldn’t have been playing. This seems so similar with Retzlaff, he’s like a Riley Nelson with a better arm. Bronco and Doman refused to hold Nelson accountable for his poor QB play and instead wasted the best defense in BYU history. We’re on a similar path with Retzlaff, I’ll believe it when I see it if they hold him accountable.
