I'm still hopeful that Retzlaff will continue to improve and become at least
an adequate QB. His biggest problem by far is turnovers, and it seems like it shouldn't be that extremely difficult to for him learn to stop doing the things that will cause that. I know it's not for lack of him wanting to correct it. I know he has been turnover prone his whole career but it is on the coaching staff and it should be their number one priority to break him of that that habit. He hasn't even completed a full season as an FBS QB and historically, it takes at least 2, sometimes 3 years of experience within a system to become very effective.

It is pretty easy to give up on him and give Bohanon a try but so far, there is no harm done because we haven't lost any games while he is still trying to develop, thanks to the defense. I believe the biggest reason they haven't switched is because Jake has another year of eligibility, and they are trying to be patient with his development since there's not gonna be many options for next year at all. I'm sure they believe that during the course of the year, he will become good enough to be reliable and to have a decent year 25-26. It is kind of a gamble, but I'm sure that they are relying on Bohanon only in case Retzlaff gets injured. We haven't played any conference games either, so I'm not sure if they will do anything differently in those games.

I believe the biggest beef we have should be with the coaching staff, not Retzlaff for our QB situation right now. Going forward a lot of things will have to be corrected so that we won't be in this situation again. There was no acceptable plan B after the Conover situation, no one was sufficiently groomed to take over. But now the situation is what it is so we have to be patient, and hope that the damage isn't too great by the time the time it gets corrected. And we could rest assured that it will eventually get corrected, one way or the other. The question is, how long will it take.
