I currently use a nice, quilted cover pillow that's only a few ounces. It's rectangular with shaped ends that keeps your head a little bit cradled. It's much better than the half round style. I usually still have to prop it up with my pack and clothing at night, but it feels so much nicer than rough nylon, and it doesn't shoot out from under my head like a greased pig on a smooth sleeping pad.
Only pillow that you should absolutely stay away from is the Klymit X style. Those things suck.
