At the end of the day, the best you can do is make your case for as high a

market value as possible and then ask for some sort of bump for the repairs, but I'd let go of the thought that he should get what he sunk into it.

When one of our cars was totaled, we negotiated with the estimator and got it bumped a couple thousand based on what similar cars were going for and because we had just put new tires on.
