Let’s gets the obvious out of the way. Retzlaff was bad tonight. Missed some key downfield throws and threw 2 screen pass interceptions. Pretty poor play.

But sometimes the fans on the message board baffle me.

Our defense mostly faced a dynamic offense in their own territory. They gave up no TDs. The forced turnovers. They had numerous sacks and TFLs. We won that game because our defense was fantastic. Great D line play. Great blitzing play calls, and tackling in the open field, not usually a BYU strength, saved the game.

The Offensive line opened some huge holes, and pass protected forever. Out top 2 RBs both came out injured, which ground the run game to a halt. And the numerous drops on catchable balls hurt Retzlaff’s stat line. It was the turnovers from the QB that nearly cost us the game.

A game we won. On the road (which BYU has barely done in the last 2 years). As a 12 point underdog.
