Proud to Announce Beehive Meals as a 'Proud Meal Prep Partner' of BYU Athletics!

CougarBoard!

As a proud BYU alum, class of 2010, I’m excited to announce that Beehive Meals is now an official sponsor of BYU Athletics. It was a surreal experience to see our logo in LaVell Edwards Stadium this past weekend! When I left as a student, I would have never imagined returning as a corporate sponsor with a business that I have helped my wife Allyse build from the ground up over the last five years. As a small business owner, this step has been one of those key moments we’ll always remember.

So that you’re aware of what we’ve trying to accomplish this Fall, I figured that I would share some initial thoughts here on CougarBoard as make our push to expand our reach.

Here’s what we’re doing with our corporate partnership: Not only will our logo be visible at various BYU sporting events, but as a ‘Proud Meal Prep Partner’ of BYU Athletics, the coolest part is that we’ll be providing our freezer meals directly to student athletes in hopes of helping them make an impact on the field.

From our press release:
“In a commitment to enhancing the well-being and performance of BYU's student athletes, Beehive Meals will be donating $50,000 in freezer meals to support the athletes throughout their academic year and competitive seasons. These freezer meal donations are part of a specially designed meal prep program that has been tailored to support the unique nutritional needs of BYU's athletic department. Beehive Meals has worked closely with university nutritionists to ensure the meal prep program aligns with the specific dietary requirements of the student athletes."

In other words, we will be providing easy, home-cooked meals that fit into a busy student-athlete schedule, while also helping them learn important life skills like meal prep techniques, healthy eating, and budgeting. The hope is that we can make an impact by supporting BYU athletes off the field so they can better preform on it.

Beyond that, we’re also hoping to get involved with NIL (name, image, and likeness) agreements, working directly with student athletes as brand ambassadors. These athletes will share their personal experiences with our meals and how they’ve impacted their lives. Stay tuned for more announcements!

A little about Beehive Meals: My wife started the company in 2019 when it was apparent that the company I worked for wouldn’t be around much longer. Instead of waiting for me to figure out our next steps, she rolled out of bed and wrote a list of things that she was good at that could potentially make money with ‘freezer meals’ being at the top of the list. She shared her idea on social media to gauge interest and the rest in history. What was meant as a temporary way to help us pay our mortgage between jobs, somehow went from serving our local community in Davis County to prepping and delivering more than 2.5 million freezer meals throughout the intermountain west region.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve been lucky enough to receive some incredible recognition, including three consecutive Best of State awards in Meal Delivery and Food Production, a spot on the Inc. 5000 list (#399), and ranking as the third fastest-growing company on the Utah Business Fast 50 list. It’s been a wild ride to say the least!

About our product: Our meals are designed to be cooked in a slow cooker or pressure cooker, providing the protein base while customers add their preferred sides—whether it’s over rice, pasta, as sandwiches, or in tacos or wraps. We aim to make dinner prep as easy and flexible as possible. And we do this while keeping costs reasonable at $3-$4 per serving, closer to grocery store prices than those luxury meal prep brands at $8-$12 per serving.

Shipping locations: Earlier this month, we officially made the shift from our local delivery model to shipping via third party carriers in UPS and FedEx. The plan is to rollout shipping in phases to ensure the food is arriving safely before turning on shipping for the entire county. For September, we will offer shipping in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada. Then in October, we plan to turn on shipping to California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and New Mexico which will cover the entirety of the Western US.

Discount code: To all CougarBoard members, if you’d like to give us a try, use the code COUGARBOARD for 10% off your next order at beehivemeals.com through the 2024-2025 school year.

Over the course of the next few weeks, you’ll see us posting on CougarBoard as we spread the word about our meal prep service. Our goal is to provide a convenient and economical dinner option for families everywhere so feel free to ask a questions that you may have about our service.

We’re looking forward to a great year, and Go Cougs!
