Here's the only royal/navy mix that I've ever liked:

The navy is minimal and you have to avoid letting the world's ugliest ever kit sponsor distract you and just focus on the color scheme.

I’m glad BYU uses navy still. No reason to ever stop, as long as royal/navy aren’t mixed

historically you’re not far off, BYU colors originally (1892) were white, and Columbia blue.

Navy is just as much BYU as Royal. BYU is the Stretch Y, not a color
